Welcome New Principal Katie Hardgrove

St. Joseph’s School for the Blind proudly welcomed Katie Hardgrove, M. Ed. as its new principal of the school’s full-time education program. According to Executive Director David Feinhals, “After a thorough search, we were confident Ms. Hardgrove exemplified the qualifications, passion and expertise required to lead our students and staff into the future. Her background in special education aligns with our mission to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities.”

Ms. Hardgrove began her career as a Teacher of the Handicapped at the Children’s Center of Monmouth County and later held administrative positions at the Schroth School-LADACIN Network, the Rock Brook School, the Burlington County Special Services School District and the Matheny School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Kean University, a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix, and has completed postgraduate courses in Applied Behavior Analysis from Rutgers University.
In addition to her education background, Ms. Hardgrove is proud of her years of volunteer work which began in high school. “Community service is very important to me. I completed community service projects locally and in various states throughout the country,” she said. She went on to serve in the AmeriCorps* National Civilian Community Corp (A*NCCC) program in California after high school. She is currently active in her local Rotary Club.

Principal Hardgrove realized her professional pursuits at an early age. She said, “I had a special connection with children, especially those with special needs. When I found the position at St. Joseph’s, it felt like it was a calling. This is where I’m supposed to be.”
