Our preschool program is open to all Jersey City residents who turn 3 years of age by October 1st of the school year. Registration is held in the spring of each year and is on a first come, first serve basis.
St. Joseph's School for the Blind's Concordia Learning Center program is a high quality program using the research based curriculum, High/Scope. In Concordia’s High/Scope environment the preschoolers are encouraged to follow their own initiative – to explore, experiment, engage in experiences that are of personal interest, ask and answer questions, set their own goals, solve problems that get in the way of accomplishing those goals, and generate new ideas to test. They carry out their intentions with the support of their teachers who are passionate and intellectually stimulating by cultivating the preschoolers cognitive skills to reach their full potential. Our preschoolers naturally engage in key experiences – activities that present important learning opportunities in the following areas of development: emerging language and literacy skills, creative representation, classification, seriation, number, space and time, movement, and social and emotional relations.
