SJSB Early Intervention (Birth to Age 3)

A Day in the Life

An EI Teacher of the Visually Impaired arrives on the scheduled day and time for a service session.  The place of service is the child’s natural environment which can be the child’s home or daycare setting.  With a parent/caregiver present, the teacher follows the child’s IFSP to provide the day’s instruction.  Through the use of active learning and floor play techniques, the child learns to use all of their senses to understand the world around them. Instruction to and collaboration with parents/caregivers is an integral part of each service session.  This helps reinforce the skills taught in the EIP session and facilitates further progress.

Teachers utilize a variety of sensory toys and materials including those from the American Printing House (APH). Teachers may also incorporate toys and materials already in the home.
